Introducing Mazak's Triple-Mode
Laser Machining Center
Differentiate!
Bring in new "laser cut only" jobs that demand consistency and accuracy. Differentiate yourself from competitors who can't cut 3D and 3D-rotary. With its small footprint and price tag, the SG-U44 can process any length pipe and up to 4'x4'x1" sheet.
Mazak's new Space Gear-U44 (SG-U44) compact laser performs high-speed processing of (1) sheetmetal and plate (2) pre-formed parts plus (3) pipe and structural.

Rotary Mode
The SG-U44 performs 2D and 3D cutting of tube, including rectangular and triangular pipe as well as C, H, I and L beams. The 5-axis torch and simultaneously controlled chuck let the SG-U44 fabricate – in one operation – precise angle cuts, weld-prep bevels and advanced contours such as saddle joint cuts. The 64-bit NC incorporates illustrated fill-in-the-blank screens to quickly program such complex contours and other cuts.
3-D Mode
With its multi-axis torch, the SG-U44 laser-cuts stamped, hydroformed, and spun pre-formed parts as well as high-speed 2D bevels in flat material. The system features an 16.53" Z-axis and a compact torch that reduces the possibility of collisions with non-flat materials. Mazak's Space Cam software generates NC code from a 3D CAD drawing, imported or crafted in the system, and it performs pre-cut simulations. It also automatically generates code for a slot-and-tab workholding fixture.

Low Maintenance, Easy Use
The SG-U44's Meehanite frame minimizes the vibrations that occur with high-speed cutting, providing continuous superior accuracy with very low maintenance. A completely enclosed cutting area with an improved dust collector meets FDA Class 1 safety standards and helps sustain a safe, clean environment.
Choose The Resonator
The wide range of resonators allows fabricators to choose the resonator power most efficient for their business. Fabricators whose business is primarily 0.50" and thinner can take advantage of the low energy and running costs of a 1500-watt system. Those whose business includes thicker gauges may benefit from the 4000-watt system, which cuts mild steel up to 1" thick. The higher wattage system also processes thinner gauges at higher speeds.
